Unsurprisingly, I am also able to say that I really enjoyed reading Love Story. Good Girl was a fun read, and it definitely reminded me how much I enjoy Lauren Layne's writing and made me want to read more from her. Layne's brand of humor and heart really did shine in these pages, and I enjoyed Jenny & Noah's story (especially those last two chapters). I'm a sucker for stories like this one, since they're very much reminiscent of the fanfics I used to write as a teen (though much more mature, if you catch my drift). Things heat up (literally and figuratively), and the two of them must decide just how far they're willing to go for each other when they're from two very different worlds. She finds her solace in Louisiana when she rents a house, though her peace isn't quite so complete with the presence of an unexpected distraction in the form of the hot caretaker Noah. This romance is all about America's sweetheart, singer-songwriter Jenny Dawson, who is looking to escape the scrutiny of the public and papparrazzi. I'm happy to say that I enjoyed Good Girl, which is the second in the Love, Unexpectedly companion novel series. After thoroughly enjoying Blurred Lines earlier this year and after Rachel convinced me to, I downloaded more Lauren Layne titles in March.

It was this capacity that enabled Lincoln as president to bring his disgruntled opponents together, create the most unusual cabinet in history, and marshal their talents to the task of preserving the Union and winning the war. He won because he possessed an extraordinary ability to put himself in the place of other men, to experience what they were feeling, to understand their motives and desires. That Lincoln succeeded, Goodwin demonstrates, was the result of a character that had been forged by experiences that raised him above his more privileged and accomplished rivals. Throughout the turbulent 1850s, each had energetically sought the presidency as the conflict over slavery was leading inexorably to secession and civil war. When Lincoln emerged as the victor, his rivals were dismayed and angry.
